Thanks :). I got the idea for the texture from an actual photo of the landscape of mars. It's not exact, but it gave me an idea of the type of features I should use. I put a layer on top of the photos and airbrushed similar looking shapes and items, then applied it to a sphere in 3dsmax.

It's flawless and everything blends in pretty well. The colors are very appealing and inviting to look at, too.
